This is a 24 hours evangelism, help people to quit smoking right at their homes.
Mission Statement
Dear friends,
I would like to share a vision related to quit smoking by prayers and evangelism. When I was filled with the Holy Spirit, God immediately helped me break the habit.
Objectives and advantages of the ministry:
1.To help those who want to quit smoking but fail to do so by themselves.
2.To attract them to be Christian and join the churchto be God’s disciples.
3.To relieve the harm of second-hand smoke towards family.
4.To help them maintain health and prevent sickness in the future.
5.There are about 650,000 smokers in Hong Kong. According to research, about 40% of the smokers tried to quit smoking but failed, which means about 260,000 smokers would like to give up the habit.
6.To persuade those who do not intend to quit smoking to pray and give up the habit for their health in long term and for saving money (If you spend $20 on smoking every day, you will have to spend $7,200 a year, and $72,000 in a decade).
7.To reduce private and public medical expenses (In 2005, public medical expenses related to illnesses caused by smoking were $3,500 million).
8.It is a global vision. For example, smokers in China make up 1/3 of the global smoker population. Therefore, we are going to find out the ways to spread our ministry to China, and online search is a quick and convenient way.
9.For instance, the United States. As revealed by the statistics in 2003, among the population over 18, 21.5% were smokers, i.e. 63,210,000 people! (Resources: Health, US, 2005, table 63). Supposed there are also 40% smokers who want to quit smoking but fail, then, the number would be 25,284,000.
10.There are also other countries.
How to implement this ministry?
1. To keep it short and simple (KISS). After praying for God’s guidance, we start by building a website in Chinese (both traditional and simplified Chinese) and English, and will add more languages gradually for a global effect. We will encourage Christians to promote the website by email to their friends in their emails address network; online such as Google.com, Yahoo.com, Gmail (Whenever keywords in English, Chinese and other languages like “smoking” or “quit smoking” appear in emails, the link to this website will be provided. For Gmail, whenever there are keywords like “smoking” or “quit smoking”, the link www.QuitSmokingByPrayer.com will appear on the right of the page.); newspaper and magazines etc. It is hoped that people around the world will benefit from the quit smoking testimonies and prayer for quit smoking online. Other testimonies will also be uploaded for people who have other needs. Prayer warriors around the world will be invited to pray for our website.
2. Upon God’s provision, we will recruit full-time staff to follow up online successful cases, and spend 1 to 2 hours a day to pray for God’s anointing for the website, so as to help people quit smoking, and more importantly, repent and accept the Lord Jesus Christ as our Saviour.
As mentioned in Proverbs of the Holy Bible, “For waging war you need guidance, and for victory many advisers.” Reverend David Wang also talked about “positioning” before. In Matthew 9:37 and Luke10: 2, Jesus Christ told his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few; ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” In John 4:35-36, Jesus Christ said, “Open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. Even now the reaper draws his wages, even now he harvests the crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together.” In Matthew 6:33, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” We all have different needs, like for money, health, job seeking, children’s study, the future or love etc. When we arrange the priority, we should strike a balance between different aspects to practice God’s words, and then we will bear fruit (preaching of Gospel, prayers, saving of souls and/or financial support are some of the important examples).
To bear fruit is a condition that Jesus Christ answers our prayers. As in John 15:16, “…and appointed you to go and bear fruit - fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.”
We first need to have the vision, prayers from Christians who are touched and willing to take up responsibilities, give prayer support and to introduce various testimonies of quit smoking. If God touches you, please feel free to contact us.
Your friend,
David Jor
